We get to choose what side we’re on: the side of dehumanizing contempt or the side of dignity and mercy.

It takes courage to be who we are, and that courage found in community is the only thing that can defeat evil.

Martin Luther King taught us that we must become visualizers and dreamers of a better tomorrow, for if we can’t dream it, we can’t do it.

On this King Day observance, my prayer is that our current feelings of maladjustment and acts of resistance will lead to a new era of justice and peace. I pray for an end to the violence against all those who are standing up for justice, civility, decency, and for Beloved Community.
